What is Membership at Harvest Church?
At Harvest Church, we firmly believe that God calls us to follow Jesus together. Membership at a local church is more than a voluntary association at the gym or country club. When the Bible uses the word “member,'' it actually refers to body parts. “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another” (Romans 12:4-5). Meaningful membership in a church creates the context where Christians obey the Scriptures, use their gifts, and experience the blessings of the Christian life.
Whenever Harvest Church brings a person into membership, the new member is promising to follow Jesus with the congregation, and the congregation is accepting the responsibility of helping the new member finish the race.
How do I become a member?
1. Trust Christ
Church members are first and foremost Christians, and a Christian is a person who has entered into a saving relationship with Jesus through faith and repentance.
2. Believer’s Baptism
As a Baptist church, all members must be baptized by immersion as believers.
3. Introducing Harvest
Introducing Harvest is an opportunity for those interested in membership to learn more about the vision of Harvest and the expectations of members.
4. Membership Interview
In a membership interview, a pastor will sit down with prospective member(s) in order to hear their testimony, learn about their gifts and burdens, and answer any questions they might have.
5. Affirmation of the Congregation
Prospective members are presented to the congregation. There they take their membership vows and are accepted into membership by the congregation.
Harvest Groups
Taking the gospel to where we live, work, and play
“Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)
